“Faster, faster, faster” is the runner’s cry.
Runners aim to cover ground (and cover it quickly), even
when we are running on treadmills. We mark every mile. We may even loop around
the block an extra time or two, just to reach our desired round number for the
day.
“Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in
the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice
as fast as that!” Lewis Carroll (1882-1989)
A runner couldn’t have said it any better than the Alice in Wonderland author did in today’s
pick for “Running Quotes by Non-Runners”. No matter how far we ran today, we
always seem to want to run farther (and faster) tomorrow.
